Make Any Occasion Special with a Root Candle

Posted

Hosting a party or social gathering is always a pleasure, but how would one create a comfortable atmosphere while also adding a touch of something to make it special? One of the easiest ways to do this is by lighting a few candles. For centuries, candles have been used; first for a light source, but now they are used to add a touch of comfort and warmth to any room in your house.

Lighting candles is easy, but for parties is it a great idea to add an aesthetic appeal by matching the color of the candles to the color scheme of your party. Other ways to create the same appeal is by finding candles that are specifically for the occasion; such as a Christmas party may have candles that spell out “Noel” or for Thanksgiving, candles in tiny pumpkins. Our Root fragrances create the perfect atmosphere for any holiday, party, or season. Our pumpkin spice adds the perfect touch to any harvest party or Thanksgiving dinner and our sparkling champagne candle is a great addition to a New Year’s Eve party or a special Valentine’s Day dinner.

One of the most popular ways to use candles at a party is a birthday cake, lit up with small taper candles. This tradition of putting candles on a birthday cake originates in the 18th century in Germany when they believed that candles drove away evil spirits. Today, some believe that they give the person blowing them out luck for the year to come, especially if they blow them out in one breath. Usually, the number of candles on the cake is equal to the age that the person is turning. Many cakes follow the theme of the party as well as the candles too. Birthday candles come in many shapes and sizes; however most prefer the traditional small colored taper candles.

Candles are a nice addition, not just to parties, but to memorial vigils as well. A memorial vigil is an assembly, usually held outdoors and after sunset, of people holding candles to show support for a certain cause. These events are usually held to protest the suffering of people or in memory of some people that lost their lives to disease, natural disasters, or other tragedy. In some cases, candlelight vigils, as they are often called, can be held for a religious or spiritual purpose as well as during Christmas Eve. These ceremonies show those that have attended that they are united in the cause of the vigil. For some large vigils, they may be broadcasted by local or national media. Long plain tapered hand held candles are usually used during vigils and Root Candle’s church and liturgical candles are the perfect way to pay tribute to a cause or death of a loved one. Everything from cemetery lights to incense can be found at Root Candles.

Candles can be used for a variety of reasons, but when used for special occasions the appeal is enough that it makes any occasion a memorable one.
