Candere: the Latin origin of the word candle, meaning to shine.

Candles have been used for centuries. First used for a source of light, today they are used for decorative purposes as electricity has replaced them. Candles are used in seven out of ten households and they come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Candle buyers claim that fragrance is very important in selecting their candles and most people use them to make a room look comfortable. Other uses include home décor, aromatherapy, and stress reduction. Candles are used during holidays and celebrations and are also celebrated during the month of November.

During National Candle Month the temperatures get cooler and people use candles more often and therefore, buy more in different sizes, colors, and scents. National Candle Month is also a way to be more aware of candle safety. Candles must always be burned within sight and never near anything that is flammable. Every candle has a different burn time. Whether you have jar candlespillar candles, or tealights, every product should be handled with care. The candle business is one of the fastest growing industries in today’s society and some of the oldest industries were founded in the fifteenth century. Candle sales are growing faster than the American economy and in the past few years there has been a remarkable growth in the candle industry.

Candles are used for so many different reasons and have been a part of society for thousands of years. Whether you are burning them for a birthday party, during the holidays, or just to relax, candles are a beautiful addition to any room or event.
