Candle Chat: a Study on Honeysuckle

Posted

In an effort to bring awareness to the growing honey bee and pollinator epidemic, Root Candles has created the Pollinator Conservation Collection. Four brand new fragrances: Honeysuckle, Lilac Sage, Rose Petals, and Pineapple Papaya, that celebrate the fruits and flowers that provide nectar and pollen to honeybees. Meet Honeysuckle.

1. Pollinated mostly in the evenings by night-feeding hawk moths, the purple-white honeysuckle is known the world over for it's beautiful, soft and musky fragrance.

2. The sweet, edible nectar also attracts hummingbirds and butterflies (and humans too! Raise your hand if you remember tasting honeysuckle as a kid).

3. Native to the Northern Hemisphere, there are over 180 different species of honeysuckle.

4. Honeysuckle loves the sun, but tolerates the shade, making it the perfect plant for any garden. It blooms midsummer.

5. The petals contain salicylic acid, a natural form of aspirin. When infused it helps ease aches and pain.

6. Honeysuckle's intoxicating scent calms nervous tension and helps promote a sense of well being.

How can you help #savethehoneybees? Use pollinator friendly blooms using such as honeysuckle, cone flower, or lavender in your gardens.
